I realize that everybody posted their 2013 recap slideshows, like…six months ago. But I’m about to embark on my travel season for this year so now felt like a good time to look back and see what I did last year.

Yes, you are reading correctly. I went to Croatia twice, I went to Las Vegas twice. I went to New York like a thousand times. So I kind of condensed everything in the slideshow.

Watch the slideshow by clicking on the photo below (of me finishing the Edinburgh Half Marathon in a kick ass time of…I can’t remember at all, but I know it was good and below 2 hours) or clicking here.

Looking at that photo, I can’t believe that was only last year. It was taken before I started Crossfit. It was taken during a time in my life where I was still crying regularly over the divorce. That feels like a lifetime ago.

2013 was such a whirlwind. I threw myself into work and travel with gusto and let the days fly by. Today England, tomorrow, Scotland, next week, ah who can even remember anymore?!

The countries you’ll see in the slideshow are RANDOM. I visited multiple cities in the U.S. multiple times, England twice, Scotland, Croatia twice, Iceland, Italy, Spain, France, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Looking at my travel list makes me think “No wonder I made it a priority to have a slow travel year in 2014. 2013 wore me out!”

That’s why I included a photo of me sleeping on the Las Vegas airport floor. I feel like that’s an accurate representation of my travel season last year.

Slovenia was my 31st country. Iceland, Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia were all new to me. This year the only new countries I’ve seen are Australia and New Zealand. But next year I’m ready to hit the road again. Out of the 5 weddings I have booked, 3 are travel, 1 to a new country (Paraguay!!!).

I always feel fortunate to be me, to have a job I love, to love and be loved by so many wonderful people. I don’t think a day goes by in which I don’t think, “I’m so happy this is my life.” The world is a beautiful and amazing place and I’ve had the privilege to see SO much of it. Not only that but people are SO freaking nice to me. From the kids who give me free coffee every day at my Santiago Starbucks, to the old man in Croatia who winked at me, told me I was pretty and let me get on the ferry without paying — I am blessed to meet people who constantly show me their kindest selves. When I look at this travel slideshow I am absolutely overwhelmed by how lucky I feel.

For my 2012 travel slideshow I was in a darker place and I made Breathe of Life the song to go with. For 2013, I set the slideshow to lyrics from The Cave by Mumford and Sons. Here are some of the lines that resonated with me and made me choose it as the backdrop to my travels from last year.

It’s empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you’ve left behind

And I’ll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I’ll know my name as it’s called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker’s land

‘Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it’s meant to be
